Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Bahrain, as Iran launched operations throughout the Middle East in response for a significant and continuing assault targeting the nation by the US and Israel.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an vicinity in the area of the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The scope of any impact is uncertain and the American officials has yet to issue a statement.

Regional Interceptions

Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - all home to US military bases - stated they have shot down missiles in their territorial skies.

In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said it had successfully engaged several missiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the Middle East.

IRGC Statement

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was attacking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the offensive on the Islamic Republic launched by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.

That US-Israeli operation - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far targeted sites linked to the the regime, with US President Donald Trump calling on the people of Iran to rise up against the government.

Wider Impacts

In Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israeli military stated it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The Ministry of Defence of the UAE announced that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses dealt with the missiles with great effectiveness and shot down a several projectiles," the statement continued.

It said debris landed in a neighborhood in the capital, causing some structural damage and killing a civilian.

The United States Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
