Hulu is Developing a Far Cry TV Series from the Producers of the Alien Series and the Comedy Hit.
The newest action-packed title that audiences experienced was Far Cry 6, which starred Giancarlo Esposito as the antagonist, Antón, and debuted back in October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it has a reputation for delighting in chaos and mayhem with the same glee, all while weaving gripping, socially charged tales. No wonder then that FX's new order for a Far Cry limited-run show attracted two creators whose creations have embodied all of those qualities.
Show Details
Adapted from Ubisoft's popular video game property, the short-run anthology series will stream on Hulu and is being made by FX Productions. The anthology will also parallel the video games' style by introducing a fresh location and cast of characters in every instalment.
Key Producers
Rob Mac, mastermind of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as showrunners on the series via their production banners, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
We’ve shared excellent collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a collective six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are thrilled that they are working together for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a announcement. “I have no doubt that they will tell this story in a way that is fresh, compelling, and extremely entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our collaborators at Ubisoft for placing confidence in us with this popular property.”
Cast and Future Plans
Mac will also feature in the show, but currently, we are unsure of what role that might entail. Hawley's Alien: Earth was not long ago approved for a second instalment, with FX and Disney signing a new comprehensive agreement with the producer.
“Getting to work alongside Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably generous, entrusting us with one of the most famous video-game realms ever created. And through it all, my FX partners constantly supports me with their steady trust and support.”
“The aspect I admire about the Far Cry game collection is that it’s an anthology show. Every title is a variation of a concept, the same way each season of Fargo is a adaptation on a theme,” explained Hawley. “To develop a big action show that can change from year to year, while always delving into the essence of humanity through this complex and chaotic perspective, is a ultimate goal. I’m excited to collaborate with Rob and introduce our mutual bold, daring style to the audience.”
A release window for when we can anticipate the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will stream on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus in other regions.
