‘Life is Pain Without You’: Cary Elwes Recalls His Director

Writing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who was featured in Reiner's beloved 1987 film *The Princess Bride*, stated he just recently felt ready to express about his personal sorrow.

"Enough time has gone by that I can finally put my grief into words," shared Elwes, saying that his introductory moment with Reiner created an instant bond. "Once we started passing more hours together I knew this was someone I desired in my life."

The actor posted behind-the-scenes footage from the movie, commenting that he cannot recall "a single day without joy".

"The film is about affection, allegiance and giving. Things that Rob held dear. That is part of the many reasons he was the perfect person to helm it," Elwes expressed.

He went on to praise Michele Reiner, saying: "To say that they were a incredible duo would be an understatement. My heart still hurts every time I remember you." He ended with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."

Martin Scorsese Reflects on a Friend and Collaborator

In a distinct essay, revered director Martin Scorsese also honored Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.

"Immediately, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was very funny and sometimes acutely humorous, but he was never the kind of guy who would command the room," Scorsese shared.

Scorsese pointed out Reiner's cameo appearance in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, portraying the father of the protagonist.
