Rob Edwards along with Gary O'Neil are two of the early candidates under consideration to succeed the former manager as head coach of Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Pereira was sacked on Sunday after the team's ten-game winless start to the top-flight campaign.
Furthermore Edwards and O'Neil - both of who have historic associations to the team - are part of the names to be evaluated by the club leadership.
Edwards is currently at Middlesbrough, which would create a possible obstacle to his hiring at Molineux.
Nevertheless the ex- Luton Town head coach - who played more than 100 of appearances for the club during his time as a player - is considered a leading contender for the position.
The mid-career manager is said to have support from the club board as they start the search of appointing a new manager.
Gary O'Neil is also appearing as a unexpected contender, although he would be a surprising appointment considering he was released by Wolves in the previous winter.
The former West Ham midfielder is currently unemployed meaning Wolves would not be required to provide any compensation.
