Dive Into the Revamped Classic Adventure: A Free Trial for Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined Debuts Soon.
Fans looking forward to the launch of Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined can get a head start too much longer. A free-to-play playable preview will become available on Jan. 7, providing a sizable glimpse into the game's beginning segments. Importantly, all advancement achieved within this demo will be able to be imported directly into the complete game upon its eventual launch.
Beyond Just a Straightforward Remake: A Complete Overhaul
This project is a ground-up reinterpretation of the landmark year 2000 role-playing game, first titled Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past. In a notable departure from other Dragon Quest re-releases, such as the previously launched HD-2D versions, this reimagining adopts a striking 3D visual presentation. Environments are designed to look like detailed dioramas, with party members featuring a whimsical stylized look.
"Even with the previous remake, the narrative was still quite long. Consequently, the team came to a decision that we wanted to streamline the story, [and] craft an adventure for today's audiences."
Key Mechanical Enhancements & Modernizations
The development team have added a host of changes to streamline the original experience. Among these are:
- Quick Field Battles: Similar to contemporary role-playing games, low-level monsters can now be dispatched directly on the exploration screen eliminating the need for entering a full traditional combat sequence.
- Variable Combat Pace: Gamers have the option to accelerate battle sequences to quickly power through less challenging encounters.
- Expanded Job System: One completely new vocation has been created for this remake. Additionally, party members now have the ability to master a second vocation, greatly enhancing customization possibilities.
These changes are aimed at address a key the original game's most noted points of feedback: its immense playtime. That original adventure was known to require over 100 hours to finish. This reimagined version has been specifically designed to improve progression and reduce perceived filler.
