Chiefs Confirm Alleged Abuse Claims Involving Wide Receiver the Athlete

The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement on Wednesday evening indicating they are aware of claims of abuse circulated in online accounts by a ex-partner of player Rashee Rice and had been in contact with the NFL.

The team did not mention Rice specifically in their statement and said they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention the athlete directly, shared a set of images on Instagram that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. Jones stated the individual in question was the father of her children, and it is known she has two children with Rice, whom the team selected in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Currently Not on File

No official complaints were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have occurred.

Player's Recent Off-Field Troubles

Rice missed the first six games of this season due to an league-mandated ban for his role in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that resulted in several individuals hurt. He was given a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to serious offenses.

Statistically, Rice finished the season with 53 catches for 571 yards and five TDs as the Kansas City finished with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a decade.
