Canada's Blue Jays Secure World Series Matchup Versus the Dodgers
Springer contributed to the Houston Astros claiming the championship in 2017.
The Toronto Blue Jays earned a spot in their maiden World Series since 1993 by defeating the Mariners in the decisive seventh game of the American League Championship Series.
Trailing by two runs, the star outfielder smashed a three-run homer in the seventh inning, leading the only Canadian franchise in the majors to a four games to three win in the series. Next up are the Dodgers, holders of the current crown, in the anticipated World Series.
"It's incredible for this squad, Toronto, our country," Springer stated, a key player of the Astros team that won the 2017 championship. "This is such an incredible feeling."
The veteran has now connected for 23 total post-season home runs, making him third all-time behind Manny Ramirez (29) and Altuve (27).
"It's hard to imagine anyone else on planet Earth that I'd prefer in that situation except for Springer with his post-season brilliance," noted Schneider.
Seattle's team, after leading the series 2-0 and 3-2, are still the sole team never to appear in a championship series.
Wilson stated "certainly that it's painful" following his side's defeat at Toronto's Rogers Centre, but applauded their work in the campaign.
"It's a special team. It's a shame that we ended up on the unsuccessful side of the series," he continued.
Toronto's team secured the championship on each of their earlier trips in 1992 and 1993, and are set to host the Dodgers in the first game on Friday.
